Ko Nakha Yai

7 - 11 July 2011

Off the east coast of Phuket, is Nakah Island. From Ao Por Pier, a long tail boat took us to Tenta Nakara, on the east side of Naka Island. This small, well cared for, resort has a few “huts” or “luxury tents” all with amazing views and a restaurant with delicious food. There is no electricity on the Island, so there is only electricity in the restaurant from 6 to 10 pm from generators. You get an oil lamp for your room and a car battery for a small (but effective!) fan. The place is beautiful and we had an amazing time the 4 nights we spent there, away from Phuket’s turist crowds; canoeing around the island, walking to the only small village on the other side of the island, watching the hermit crabs running busy along the beach, reading, swimming...

Walk to Nakah Village. Fishing and Rubber Tree plantations are the main acivities in the village.

We went on two excursions.
First one, to Phi Phi. We went snorkeling, swimming, and saw some beautifull places, including Maya Bay, where they filmed The Beach.

On the second excursion, we went sea canoeing. A boat took us to diferent islands, where we got in our canoes and went in caves to explore the inside lagoons of the islands.

Bernard and Dee's Wedding

2-6 July 2011

Thailand, Indian Wedding, 4 days of celebrations, 2 cities; Bangkok and Hua Hin.

From our base at the Fraser Suites hotel in Bangkok we had time to wander a bit arround the city between parties and celebrations.

The celebrations in Bangkok: Pre-ceremony at the temple for the groom,

Welcome dinner at the Bride's familly house, including chanting, dancing, henna..

...and of course lots of delicious food and drink.

The BIG Dinner. Wedding dinner at the Conrad Hotel, 1000 guests, stage, big screen, "throne" for the not-yet-married couple, sparkling saris, boliwood music and lots and lots of amazing food.

But this is only the start. The wedding continues in the beach town of Hua Hin, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel where we get to enjoy the facilities, a welcome dinner and more dancing on tuesday, and finally the wedding day onWednesday...

Breakfast

On wednesday, diferent ceremonies took place all day long. Just had to be there and someone would tell you what to do, when to dance, or even dress you up!

And finally, the wedding ceremony, by the beach.
